Senior Test Engineer

Overview

Belay Technologies is seeking a Senior Test Engineer (TE3) to join our intel team. ETR applications require strong automated testing expertise with an emphasis on full stack (front-end and back-end) test automation, along with advanced proficiency using the Linux command line.

This role is responsible for the design, development, execution, and maintenance of automated test frameworks and scripts across multiple applications and environments.

Two of the primary applications, JDTS and JUMPGATE, include user interfaces that allow users to configure software and monitor metrics for data flows processed through each instance. Automated front-end testing is required to validate UI functionality, workflows, and data presentation, while automated back-end testing is required to verify software capabilities related to data flow processing, streams, logging, integrations, and overall system behavior.

Testing activities routinely involve Linux-based systems, including command-line interaction for test execution, log analysis, process monitoring, and environment troubleshooting. This position requires close collaboration with development teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and to ensure consistent, repeatable, and scalable test coverage across all supported applications.

This description reflects the qualifications and expectations for the ETR Test Team. The ETR test team also supports DARKGATEWAY, a web-based tool that has centralized monitoring and metrics about data flows, as well as health and status monitoring. The majority of DARKGATEWAY testing is front-end focused.

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts across multiple applications and environments.
• Perform automated front-end testing to validate UI functionality, workflows, and data presentation.
• Perform automated back-end testing to verify data flow processing, streams, logging, integrations, and overall system behavior.
• Operate on Linux-based systems, including command-line interaction for test execution, log analysis, process monitoring, and environment troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and ensure repeatable, scalable test coverage.

• TS/SCI with full scope polygraph is required.
• Eight (8) years’ experience as a TE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Statistics, Engineering Management or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• Four (4) years of additional TE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
• Three (3) years' experience testing products written in Java or GoLang.
• Five (5) years' experience testing in Linux, Unix, Windows, or Cisco OS operating systems.
• Desired:
  Three (3) years' experience testing a messaging service (e.g., Java Messaging Service, TIBCO, Active
  
  MQ, Artemis, Kafka).
• One (1) year experience using a requirements tracking tool (e.g., Redmine, Jira).
• Two (2) years' experience using automated testing tools.
• CWIP: IAT Level I Certification, IA Baseline Certification.

• Assist with Level 1 tasks as constrained by technical training and testing experience.
• Conduct research into Government test and evaluation concepts and related activities to support T&E.
• Plan and execute performance analysis and testing plans; coordinate with SE information to inform evaluation planning.
• Develop data sampling schemes and select instrumentation and data management tools.
• Ensure test readiness, including training and compliance with security, legal, and privacy requirements.
• Coordinate data collection plans and execute testing and data collection per plan.
• Produce evaluation plans, data requirements, risk assessments, and evaluation reports; provide input to Government T&E products.
• Provide technical direction to Level 0/1 TEs and coordinate with Government sponsors on task implementation.
