Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Monitor and record student attendance in accordance with state law and district policy and procedure.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process documentation for students reporting late and for those seeking early dismissal; receive and process all early dismissal requests and absence notes.
  • Communicate with parents, faculty, and administrators, verbally and in writing, regarding student tardiness, early dismissals and absences.
  • Process and file student absences; input daily attendance information into the student database, including but not limited to tardy, early dismissals and absences.
  • Maintain an accurate, comprehensive and efficient filing system for absence slips, early dismissal notes, and letters to parents.
  • Process unlawful/unexcused absences including but not limited to completing detention cards, effectuating changes in absence status in the student database, and run reports on the number of unlawful absences for students.
  • Prepare and distribute all correspondence relative to student attendance.
  • Utilize the district’s computer system to accomplish responsibilities of student accounting and attendance issues.
  • Purge student attendance folders annually and store documents removed from said files.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the High School Principal and Assistant Principals.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma required.
  • Submission of pre‑employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code).
  • Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code).
  • FBI Criminal History Record.
  • Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to reach above and below the waist.
  • Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs.
  • Ability to mostly sit with some walking, standing or moving throughout the work environment.

  • Visual acuity.
  • Auditory acuity.
