Basic PurposeUnder the supervision of the Program Manager for the Challenger Learning Center at Montco Pottstown, the Part‑time Challenger Learning Center Facilitator is responsible for the facilitative support of the daily Challenger Learning Center in‑person and virtual mission programming, as well as facilitative support of Discovery Programs.
Availability: Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and some holidays, as needed.
- PA Child Abuse, PA State Police, and FBI Fingerprints will need to be completed prior to start date.
- Provide daily facilitative support with Challenger Learning Center simulation‑based missions, both in‑person and virtual.
- Assist in the facilitation of Discovery Program activities in collaboration with Challenger Learning Center in‑person missions with students in grades 5-8, when requested.
- Maintain working knowledge of all technology used in Challenger Learning Center and Discovery Programs that comply with local, state, and federal guidelines to provide for safe physical and online learning environments.
- Provide facilitative support for Challenger Learning Center summer camp programming.
- Represent the Challenger Learning Center and MCCC at Challenger network partner meetings, local & regional community fairs, and other related community outreach events as requested.
- Provide Challenger Learning Center administrative support where and when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in classroom and/or informal educational settings using computer‑assisted instruction.
- Desire to work with children of all ages, as well as adults.
- Passionate about higher education, particularly in STEM.
- Experience with STEM programming for youth.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess an outgoing and enthusiastic personality.
- Amenable to flexible weekly schedule; ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
- Demonstrated ability to**:
- Communicate effectively with children and adults.
- Work in multicultural settings.
- Conduct effective classes and demonstrations.
- Lead public programs with strong presentation and communication skills.
- Adapt during program delivery to satisfy real‑time scenarios.
- Troubleshoot and learn new technology.
