: Mixed age K-1 Lead Teacher )

Hours: Class time 9:30-2:30, M-Th, Mid-September-May (32 weeks total) plus set up, clean up, and at-home preparation as needed

Pay: commensurate with experience

New Earth Traditions Homeschool Enrichment is seeking an energetic, collaborative, and warm-hearted assistant teacher, knowledgeable and experienced in the ideals of Waldorf education, who would like to join a vibrant and connected homeschool community. We are a group of dedicated faculty and staff committed to providing our students with opportunities for a developmentally nourishing education and dynamic learning while making room for pedagogical flexibility among our families.

We seek an individual who:

  • Possesses a deep understanding of students, their development, learning styles, and needs.

  • Has the ability to take direction from the lead teacher.

Required Credentials:

  • Commitment to and experience in working with mixed‑age (5‑7 year old) K‑1 students.
  • Waldorf teacher certification, or Waldorf classroom experience and interest and willingness to participate in self‑led learning and guided teacher development training in the Waldorf/Steiner pedagogy.
  • Ability to pass criminal and child‑abuse background checks.
  • CPR/ First Aid Certified
Position Expectations:
  • Help prepare and execute developmentally‑appropriate Waldorf lessons and rhythm for indoors and outdoors in mixed‑age class (5‑7 year olds); activities such as circle, imaginative play, story & puppetry, handcrafts, painting, practical home‑like activities, snack, and outdoor free play and activities.
  • Participate in all‑school and festival activities and events.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with parents through regular communication, parent‑teacher conferences, parent enrichment meetings, and end‑of‑year reports.
  • Maintain positive relationships with parents and respond to concerns.
  • Develop and maintain a safe, harmonious, and nurturing environment for the children to learn and develop. Guiding and redirecting children’s behavior while maintaining self‑esteem.
  • Develop and maintain a clean, orderly classroom environment.
  • Presents a professional image, worthy of imitation.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with colleagues and respond to all collegial concerns.
  • Engage in on‑going professional and personal growth.
  • Fulfill other duties, as assigned, relative to the job responsibilities.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
