The Sr. Manager, Hardware & Systems Engineering leads the physical architecture and systems integration of advanced hardware products. You will guide multidisciplinary engineering teams, mature engineering processes, and drive the execution of complex hardware programs from concept through production.
Responsibilities- Lead and mentor Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems Engineering teams; promote technical excellence and rapid prototyping.
- Implement standardized engineering tools and processes (CAD/EDA, PDM/PLM, requirements management, simulation) to streamline development.
- Manage budgets, staffing, and resource allocation to support engineering and production goals.
- Apply Agile practices to hardware development for rapid iteration and timely program delivery.
- Provide technical oversight across ruggedized hardware design, power systems, propulsion, and sensor integration.
- Reduce technical debt and formalize undocumented design decisions and legacy documentation.
- Establish consistent processes for ECO/ECN, configuration management, version control, and peer reviews.
- Collaborate across product, engineering, operations, and external partners to ensure requirement alignment.
- 12+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years leading multidisciplinary hardware or systems teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related engineering field.
- Proven experience developing ruggedized hardware or systems for harsh or critical environments.
- Success taking hardware from concept through design, integration, environmental testing, and production.
- Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles, requirements traceability, and risk management.
- Ability to formalize processes, reduce tribal knowledge, and build scalable engineering workflows.
- Hands‑on leadership style with strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to regulatory requirements.
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience scaling engineering operations and maturing development processes.
- Familiarity with pressure housings, propulsion systems, embedded sensors, or similar hardware domains.
- Ability to work in office and on‑site environments.
- Occasional support for field testing and integration activities.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods and operate standard office equipment.
