Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting company's final products to meet established quality standards. They implement quality assurance procedures and perform routine inspections and quality tests. They ensure that standards and safety regulations in their area are observed. They practice continuous improvement regarding the methods they employ and the documentation they use.
Essential Functions- Execute incoming and final inspections.
- Log inspection results in the system.
- Review mill certifications for product conformance to specifications. Scan and maintain mill certificates.
- Completes a Material Return Notice (MRN) when product is returned from job sites.
- Establish product identity during inventory and when products are returned.
- Performs Pre-Production Approval (PPAP) inspections for new suppliers.
- Generates Corrective Action Reports (CAR) for non-conformances.
- Notifies buyers, project coordinators, and/or designers when parts are non-conforming.
- Sort for critical deviations when there isn’t time to return a discrepant shipment.
- Attend material review and board meeting.
- Perform product testing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Associates degree from a two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, material certificates, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Effectively speak before a group of employees.
- Knowledge to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Effectively apply the concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in a situation where only limited standardization exists.
- Interpretation of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
- Proper use and knowledge of calipers, height gauges, depth gauges, and basic inspection instruments.
- Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams is required.
- Ability to lift or move up to 70 pounds at a time.
- Effectively work in a warehouse setting with moderate noise levels.
- Must be able to work independently and be self‑motivated.
- Deals with others in a straightforward and honest manner, is accountable for actions, maintains confidentiality and supports company goals and values.
