The Pottstown Division of H&K Group, Inc. is looking for a Road Mechanic to repair and maintain diesel and gasoline heavy equipment and trucks in the field. The ideal candidate is energetic, self‑motivated, organized, competent, and professional.

• Perform all work adhering to OSHA, PA and DoT regulations, and H&K Safety policies
• Review job orders and observe equipment operators, truck drivers and shop leaders to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures
• Identify parts for repairs or replacement for all systems on equipment/trucks when needed
• Examine protective guards, loose bolts and specified safety devices on equipment/trucks and make adjustments
• Dismantle equipment/trucks to examine parts for defect or to remove defective parts
• Replace defective parts with new parts or repair or reproduce parts from various kinds of metal
• Assemble and test operate machines or test drive trucks to verify correction of malfunction and confirm that it meets manufacturer specifications
• Overhaul gas or diesel engines
• Perform diagnostics through the use of computers and various equipment
• Perform front‑end inspections and alignments
• Other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution OR relevant experience and/or training
• CDL B
• Clean driving record
• Customer service and teamwork skills
• General computer knowledge and familiarity with Caterpillar software (ET & SIS)
• Ability to use mechanics hand tools, torch, and welder
• Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to the job)
• Preferred:
  Related experience or technical school or college in the heavy equipment field
• Preferred:
  Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
• Preferred: CDL A
• Preferred: OSHA, MSHA, or other relevant safety certifications

• Occasionally required to stand, walk, or sit; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; drive up to two hours; use hands to finger or feel; talk and hear
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

• Occasional exposure to moving parts, fumes and airborne particles
• Noise level is loud at times
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Hours regularly exceed 40 hours a week and 8 hours a day
