SUMMARY

The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment and production systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role requires strong millwright-level mechanical expertise, including precision alignment, rigging, and installation of industrial equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Install, assemble, align, and dismantle machinery and equipment such as pumps, compressors, gearboxes, motors, and production equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and perform root cause analysis to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Apply millwright practices including equipment setting, precision alignment, leveling, and mechanical system installation.
  • Perform precision alignment (shaft, belt, chain), balancing, and bearing replacements.
  • Perform rigging and material handling using hoists, cranes, forklifts, and jacks.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and lifting equipment.
  • Perform fabrication as required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment histories.
  • Collaborate with electricians, engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel.
  • Communicate with and support internal customers (Operator, Supervisor, Equipment Owner, others) in a clear, timely and complete manner.
  • Be directly involved in continuous improvement activities of processes in all departments to improve performance and meet company goals.
  • Act and work as a professional to provide world class service to all internal customers to build trusted partnerships.
  • Must work safely at all times and follow company, corporate, and regulatory safety practices.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and the company.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Completion of a Millwright apprenticeship or equivalent hands‑on experience in industrial or manufacturing mechanical maintenance.
  • Minimum of 5 – 10 years of experience as a Millwright, Maintenance Mechanic, or Industrial Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical power transmission systems including bearings, couplings, drives, belts, chains).
  • Experience in applying millwright practices such as equipment installation, alignment, and rigging preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Trade certification is highly desirable.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS
  • Install, repair, inspect, and maintain various industrial machines and systems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and make decisions based on technical documents, such as blueprints, schematics, or instructions.
  • Run diagnostic tests and troubleshooting for electrical and mechanical machinery.
  • Perform preventative maintenance such as replacing and oiling parts of machinery.
  • Test malfunctioning equipment and discuss findings with operators, production managers and engineers to support day‑to‑day operations.
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, drives, PLC's, components, switches, and motors, and position sensing devices.
  • Replace electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
  • Connect power supply wires to machine and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment per industry standard and electrical codes.
  • Troubleshoot to best correct immediate situation and develop long term solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
