The Pottstown Division of the H&K Group, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy Equipment Operator to become a part of our team. This position entails the operation of heavy equipment in order to achieve daily production goals while maintaining a high standard of safety and efficiency.

• Adhere to OSHA and H&K safety policies in all work activities
• Operate heavy equipment by controlling levers, pedals, and engine engagement for optimal efficiency
• Perform scheduled cleaning of equipment
• Park and store equipment safely and securely
• Maintain equipment through proper greasing and daily fluid checks (oils, coolant, fuel)
• Conduct daily checks to confirm equipment is in proper operating condition
• Notify shop foreman of any maintenance or repair needs
• Perform additional duties as assigned

• One‑year certificate from an accredited college or technical school OR six months of related experience and/or training (equivalent combinations may be considered)
• Must pass a practical skills test for heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, and loaders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions
• Problem‑solving ability
• Fit test and ability to use appropriate PPE as needed
• Physical ability to meet job requirements (movement, lifting)

• Two years of related experience and/or training
• Experience in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarry operations
• OSHA or other relevant safety certifications

• Frequently required: sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, feel; reach with hands & arms; talk or hear
• Occasionally required: stand, walk, climb, and balance; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision requirements: distance, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

• Regular exposure to outside weather conditions and vibration
• Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles
• Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts
• Noise levels are usually loud
