Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY: Perform tasks necessary to maintain the District’s properties and equipment including the operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems and equipment.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Maintain and repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and related controls; perform preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled.
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks in various trades such as electrical, welding, plumbing, carpentry, painting, masonry and other general maintenance work as assigned.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including maintenance and repair of automated digital and pneumatic temperature control systems, plumbing systems and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain existing electrical equipment; install additional electrical circuits and components.
- Maintain faucets, pipes, plumbing fixtures; clear drains and make repairs as necessary.
- Maintain all campus grounds with snow removal and salting as required.
- Repair kitchen and refrigeration equipment including but not limited to freezers, refrigerators, ice machines and water coolers.
- Maintain and repair door hardware including but not limited to locks, closures and hinges.
- Order and coordinate the pricing and installation of small equipment needing repair and/or replacement within the mechanical inventory.
- Maintain service to fire alarm systems including but not limited to adding codes, general maintenance, and cleaning of detectors.
- Perform various tasks as requested including but not limited to installation of classroom equipment, hanging art work, mounting white boards, repairing furniture and casework repair.
- Maintain and repair flooring and walls, including but not limited to tile, drywall, plaster and block.
- Maintain and repair various roofing systems, including but not limited to rubber and metal.
- Enter completed daily work orders into the TMA maintenance management system.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the District Maintenance Supervisor.
- High School diploma or equivalent necessary
- Vocational or trade school required
- Experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing & carpentry preferred
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and work from drawings
- Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- FBI Criminal History Record
- Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
- Ability to reach above and below the waist
- Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
- Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 50 lbs.
- Ability to work off of ladders, scaffolding and high lift devices
- Ability to mostly stand with some walking or moving throughout the work environment
- Visual acuity
- Auditory acuity
Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Must be able to work in extreme cold (32 degrees or less) and extreme heat (90 degrees or more).
