Heavy Equipment Operator

Overview

H&K Group, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy Equipment Operator for its Pottstown Division. This position requires operating heavy equipment to meet daily production goals while maintaining a safe work environment. • Perform all work in adherence to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
• Control the machine by moving levers and depressing pedals
• Operate equipment efficiently by monitoring engine performance
• Clean equipment as scheduled
• Securely park and store equipment when not in use
• Grease and check fluids (oil, coolant, fuel) daily
• Perform daily equipment inspections to ensure proper operating condition
• Notify shop foreman of any maintenance or repair needs
• Perform other duties as assigned

• One‑year certificate from an accredited college or technical school, or six months of related experience and/or training
• Requirement of alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Must be able to pass a practical skills test for heavy equipment (dozers, excavators, loaders)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to understand and carry out detailed written or oral instructions
• Problem‑solving ability
• Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting) relevant to the job

• Two years of related experience and/or training
• Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
• OSHA or other relevant safety certifications

• Frequent requirements: sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; use hands for fingers, handle, feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear
• Occasional requirements: stand, walk, climb, balance; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision requirements: distance, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment

• Regularly exposed to: outside weather conditions, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, loud noise
