The H&K Group is seeking an Experienced Dozer Operator to support heavy civil construction projects across the Mid-Atlantic region. In this role, you will safely operate dozers for site prep, grading, cut-and-fill, and roadwork, working from stakes, plans, and GPS or laser controls. You'll perform pre- and post-operation inspections, report maintenance needs, and follow strict safety and environmental standards. As part of a family-owned, team-oriented company, you'll work closely with foremen and crew members, gain hands-on experience, and access long-term career growth opportunities on diverse projects.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate dozers for site prep, grading, and earthmoving on heavy civil projects
- Read and follow stakes, plans, grades, and GPS/laser guidance for accurate cuts and fills
- Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections and basic equipment maintenance
- Follow all company, OSHA, and environmental safety standards and reporting procedures
- Communicate with foremen, surveyors, and crew to coordinate work and maintain productivity
- Monitor material types, moisture, and compaction needs while pushing, cutting, and filling
- Assist with minor troubleshooting and report mechanical issues promptly
- Work in varying weather and site conditions while maintaining quality and efficiency
- Support other site activities as needed, including basic labor tasks
- Participate in training and development to improve operating skills and safety awareness
Required Skills
- Dozer operation for grading and earthmoving
- Reading grade stakes and site plans
- GPS or laser-guided machine control
- Heavy equipment inspection and basic maintenance
- Soil, cut-and-fill, and compaction practices
- Construction site safety (OSHA standards)
- Hand and power tool use around equipment
