This position supports the delivery of essential health services within a secure correctional setting. You will help meet the daily medical needs of inmates through skilled and compassionate care.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will perform the following duties:
- Patient Care: Provide direct support with daily living activities, hygiene, and restorative techniques
- Medication Duties: Administer prescribed medications and treatments under supervision and document all actions
- Health Monitoring: Observe and report physical and emotional changes in inmates
- Emergency Response: Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid, CPR, or AED when needed
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate electronic health records and prepare required medical reports
- Supply Management: Sterilize instruments and maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies
Full-time employment, 40-hour work week. The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- 1st shift: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
- 2nd shift: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
- 3rd shift: 10:00 pm to 6:30 am
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $68,914.00 (before taxes). Qualifications
- This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
