Location: City of Poughkeepsie

Structure Tone, part of the STO Building Group company, is looking to identify a Civil Estimator to support our project in Poughkeepsie, NY. The Civil Estimator will develop, create and prepare civil cost estimates for a diverse set of projects in the early stages of development and continue to support the project team with updated cost information throughout the pre‑construction phase of the projects.

Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take‑offs and cost estimates for civil construction activities (earthworks, concrete, utilities, asphalt, grading, etc.).
  • Develop conceptual and preliminary estimates during the early stages of design.
  • Analyze labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs to ensure pricing accuracy.
  • Prepare and submit tenders, bids, and proposals in line with company standards and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather accurate pricing information.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations and verify scope coverage.
  • Participate in pre‑bid meetings, site visits, and client briefings as required.
  • Assist in value‑engineering exercises to optimize cost efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Maintain organized and detailed records of all estimating activities.
  • Prepare cost summaries, bid comparisons, and project cost reports.
  • Support post‑bid analysis and handover to project teams after award.
Qualifications
  • BS or BA required. Preferred areas of study include construction, management, engineering or architecture.
  • 5+ years of experience in estimating, construction engineering/project engineering, or related duties in general contractor estimating and purchasing.
  • Preferred experience with data center, mission‑critical, or corporate interiors projects.
  • Earns and maintains trust by demonstrating honesty, accountability and reliability.
Salary Range

$130,000 – $170,000
