Job Description:
The Department of Business, Aviation, & Construction Professions (BACP) at DCC invites applications for a Temporary Full-Time faculty position in Architectural Technology/Construction Management. This position has an expected start date in August 2026 and is an appointment for the academic year.
Primary responsibilities include:
* Teach classes in architectural technology and construction management.
* Develop and revise course curricula to reflect current industry trends and academic standards.
* Incorporate technology and experiential learning into classroom instruction.
* Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
* Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
* Participate in department meetings, college-wide committees, and student club activities, and engage in campus community events.
* Participate in assessment activities and professional development.
* Contribute to program development through curriculum improvement, recruitment efforts, and community outreach.
* Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to students.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate knowledge in the following areas through portfolio submission:
* Work in residential and small-scale commercial design.
* Hand drafting and lettering with the use of standard drafting tools.
* Advanced AutoCAD skills to include Xrefs, Attributes, and Block Creation.
* Advanced REVIT Skills to include customizing wall, roof, and floor assemblies, dimension customization, and scheduled.
* Computer rendering skills, including a working knowledge of software such as Enscape.
Preferred additional knowledge includes:
* Residential Materials and Methods used in current industry standards for construction.
* Commercial Materials and Methods used in current industry standards for construction.
* Building Systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Sprinklers) used in modern construction.
* Knowledge of Green and Sustainable Construction practices.
* Hand Rendering, including fundamentals of Perspective in Black and White and Color.
* Design Theory.
* Residential and Commercial Construction Documents.
Knowledge in one or more of the following areas will greatly benefit the applicant as they become part of a team of faculty members:
* Pathways to licensure including CCCAP, ACSA, NCARB, AXP and ARE.
* Office Practice including AIA Basic Contracts, Transmittals and Submission and a modern computer-based office.
* Scheduling using software.
* Introductory Project estimating.
* The ability to teach Mechanics of Structure and the Application of Structural Design in Wood, Steel and Concrete in an Algebra based curriculum.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
* Official transcripts required upon hire.
* Professional license or currently sitting for the Architect Registration Examination (ARE).
* 5 years of professional experience in the field of architecture.
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
* An appreciation for diversity for all types and how diversity impacts learning and instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in Architecture.
* Experience teaching at the college level, particularly at a community college.
* Demonstrated competencies in a variety of teaching methodologies and/or pedagogical approaches that reach a broad range of learners.
* Teaching experience includes both in-person and online modalities.
* An understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education.
* Experience in using instructional technology in the classroom and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies.
* Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS) such as Brightspace, Blackboard, or Canvas.
