Job Description:
The Department of Allied Health & Biological Sciences (AHBS) at DCC invites applications for a Temporary Full-Time faculty position in Biology. This position has an expected start date in August 2026 and is an appointment for the academic year.
Primary responsibilities include:
* Teach classes in biology, which may include courses such as Introduction to Biology, Human Biology, General Biology 1 & 2, Introduction to Physiology, and Anatomy & Physiology 1 & 2.
* Develop and revise course curricula to reflect current industry trends and academic standards.
* Incorporate technology and experiential learning into classroom instruction.
* Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
* Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
* Participate in department meetings, college-wide committees, and student club activities, and engage in campus community events.
* Participate in assessment activities and professional development.
* Contribute to program development through curriculum improvement, recruitment efforts, and community outreach.
* Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to students.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
* Master's degree in Biology or related area.
* Official transcripts required upon hire.
* College level teaching experience in biology.
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
* An appreciation for diversity for all types and how diversity impacts learning and instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
* Ph.D. in Biology or related area.
* Experience teaching at a community college.
* Demonstrated competencies in a variety of teaching methodologies and/or pedagogical approaches that reach a broad range of learners.
* Teaching experience includes both in-person and online modalities.
* An understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education.
* Experience in using instructional technology in the classroom and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies.
* Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS) such as Brightspace, Blackboard, or Canvas.
Additional Information:

* Temporary Full-Time Faculty - Biology is a full-time temporary position.
* This position is a one-year appointment for the academic year. Dependent on budgetary constraints and the needs of the college, the position may be extended for up to two years.

Full-Time faculty positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Dutchess Community College (DCC) and Dutchess United Educators (DUE).
