Education Coordinator- LTFC

Overview

The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie is seeking an Education Coordinator to work in the LTFC Program in Poughkeepsie, NY. This full-time position oversees and coordinates all educational services for children enrolled in the LTFC program and serves as the primary point of contact between the program and schools, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.

Position details:
Salary range $65,000.00 - $70,000.00;

Schedule:

Monday – Friday 9am–5pm with some flexibility required;
Saturday – Sunday OFF.

Education required:

Bachelor's degree.

Location:

Children's Home of Poughkeepsie, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

• Assess the educational needs and develop an overall educational plan for each youth in care.
• Ensure youth are scheduled for school district assessments and enrolled in school within three days of arrival; work with the school to identify and address barriers so the youth can start in a timely manner.
• Facilitate appropriate school placement in the community and coordinate a review by the Committee on Special Education (C.S.E.) when needed.
• Attend all C.S.E. and I.E.P. meetings and represent The Children's Home; arrange attendance of appropriate individuals at conferences or meetings on youth or school-related issues.
• Upload enrollment confirmations, report cards and other progress reports issued by the school into the UC Portal in a timely manner.
• Be knowledgeable about 504 and IEP plans and advocate for youth in need of extra services; liaison with the school to facilitate this process.
• Act as agency liaison to all parties regarding educational matters and ensure accurate, timely communication between the school district and program staff.
• Make on-site visits to school placements and collaborate with classroom and school personnel to support their efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• BA or BS in Education or related field.
• Previous educational experience required.
• Special education experience.
• Experience with English language learners.
• Valid New York State Driver's License with good driving record as determined by the Agency.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• MS.Ed., CSW or other appropriate Master's Level Certification.
• Teaching certification.
• Experience in the Child Welfare field.
• Bilingual.
