Job Description:
The Greenspan Daycare Center is seeking enthusiastic, dependable individuals who demonstrate joy in working with young children and families and a desire to grow and learn.
The Lead Teacher is responsible for supervising and teaching a group of children. This includes establishing and maintaining a warm, nurturing environment, which supports the emotional, social, physical and cognitive development of the children enrolled in the classroom. In addition, the Lead Teacher is required to comply with all state licensing regulations and to participate in the NAEYC accreditation process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* The lead teacher possesses exceptional personal qualities and ethics.
* Develop and Implement Curriculum
* Design and implement a Developmentally Appropriate Program with curriculum activities, which meet NAEYC standards and best practices for early childhood education.
* Seek out innovative and emergent curriculum practices in the field of early childhood education.
* Design and maintain an attractive, orderly learning environment
* Observe, Assess and Document Child Progress
* Observe and document child progress through a variety of assessment tools.
* Present a written progress report twice yearly (once each semester) to be included in the child's file and shared with parents.
* Establish respectful open ongoing communication with families.
* Visits with families daily as well as during scheduled parent-teacher conferences and during school-wide events.
* Share classroom goals and expectations with families during open-house and parent night.
* Encourage and support parent involvement.
* Seek to understand and include family customs and beliefs within the curriculum and seek to accommodate and include families who speak languages other than English.
* Develop and orchestrate a classroom schedule
* Design a schedule that is predictable and establishes routine.
* Design a schedule that also allows for flexibility when needed and is responsive to the children's needs.
* Plan for indoor and outdoor play every day.
* Establish Behavioral Guidelines
* Ensure the safety of all children (emotional and physical safety)
* Accommodate children's different needs and individual learning styles.
* Provide consistent, fair and respectful expectations for children
* Supervise Assistant Teachers and Students
* Involve assistant teacher in planning, assign responsibilities.
* Mentor professional growth and supervise interactions with children.
* Model excellent communication and interaction with children and families.
* Reflect and communicate about classroom goals and individual children's needs.
* Build a positive supportive working relationship with other adults in the classroom.
* Communicate with the Director Regularly Regarding:
* Concerns about a child's development
* Concerns about a team member's performance or interactions with others
* Goals for professional development
* Goals for curriculum development
* Special classroom plans or projects
* Keep records of:
* Attendance
* Health check and classroom journal
* Meal census
* Children's portfolios
* Classroom Portfolios
* Anecdotal records on individual children

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
* Must have a reliable method of transportation to report to work on time.
* A CDA certification and two years of experience related to caring for children
Preferred Qualifications:
* An associate's degree in early childhood education (or related field) and two years' experience as a teacher with an appropriate age groups
