Teaching Assistant for Crisis Intervention – Extended School Year
Location: Resilience Academy
Duties- Working with individual pupils or groups on special instructional projects, including life space interviews and anger replacement strategies, and performing related teaching assistant work as required.
- Providing the teacher with information about pupils to aid in developing appropriate learning experiences, including completion of a physical intervention log, monitoring time-out spaces, and tracking student behavior patterns to facilitate improvement plans.
- Assisting pupils in using available instructional resources, developing instructional materials, and helping them employ constructive, effective ways to manage frustration, failure, anger, pain, and stress.
- Utilizing the assistant’s own special skills and abilities to assist in instructional programs and behavior management, including managing disruptive, assaultive, and out-of-control student behavior using therapeutic physical intervention strategies as needed.
- Assisting with related instructional work such as participating in treatment team meetings, demonstrating CPI preferred intervention approaches in managing students in crisis, using behavior management techniques, non-verbal and verbal communication skills, problem solving, conflict resolution, training and updating other staff, and aiding in the development of agency policies and procedures for handling crisis.
- Performing related teaching assistant work as required.
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in an educationally related field.
- Completion of Crisis Intervention training as a Crisis Intervention Worker. Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) as a Crisis Intervention Trainer is desirable.
- A minimum of one year of experience working directly with emotionally disturbed students in an educational setting or equivalent.
- Possession of skills, knowledge, attitude, and confidence to effectively deal with students in crisis, to remain in control during a crisis, to help students learn and grow from the experience, and to respond to both feelings and outward behavior of a student in crisis.
- A strong desire to work with emotionally disturbed students.

August 14, 2026 (Extended School Year).
