Position Title: Visiting Lecturer of English

$65,000 – $70,000

Job Summary: The English Department at Marist University invites applications for a one‑year Visiting Lecturer of English with a proven ability to teach First Year Writing and Core Literature courses to begin in August 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a mix of ENG 120 (Writing or College) and Core Literature classes. A strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduates is required.

Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree in English or related field is required. Teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness is required.

Essential Functions: The teaching load will be a 4‑4 course load. Faculty are expected to hold office hours and attend departmental and school meetings.

Preferred Qualifications: A Ph.D. in English or Rhetoric/Composition is desired. Teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness is required.

  • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credits per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
  • University pays 100% tuition only.
  • Eligible dependents may be reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
