• Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree
• Or Associate’s degree with 2 years of work experience in the field described above
• Or high school or high school equivalency with 4 years of work experience in the field described above
• Or equivalent combination of training and experience described in the options above

• Eligibility for a New York State Motor Vehicle Operator’s license at time of application and possession at appointment
• Use of a personal vehicle for field work may be required; mileage reimbursement will be provided

• Plan and assist in planning parent and community‑oriented programs
• Provide small‑group tutoring for at‑risk students
• Administer testing programs for a school, including ordering tests, scheduling, and preparing evaluation packets
• Act as teacher‑parent liaison for referrals to appropriate community resources
• Maintain logs of home visits and parent outreach activities
• Maintain folders for students receiving tutoring
• Perform related work as required

• Good knowledge of elementary school‑level subject matter and reading instruction techniques
• Good knowledge of current reading instructional resources
• Good knowledge of the community and community resources
• Ability to plan and carry out parent/school meetings and staff development workshops
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to organize work and maintain records
• Initiative, resourcefulness, tact, courtesy
• Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials, and evaluation of service. Personal interviews may be conducted where appropriate.

Starting salary: $65,000

* This position will receive a provisional appointment. A permanent appointment is contingent upon completion and successful passing of a civil service exam.*
