Description
This candidate is responsible for the overall delivery of mental health services in the Early Head Start, Head Start, and special education programs. The School Psychologist will work collaboratively with teachers, administration, families, and related services personnel to help students succeed in the school environment.
Job Responsibilities- Responsible for the delivery of psychological services to all children within the educational setting.
- Coordinate and supervise school wide individual achievement tests of all children utilizing teachers, teacher assistants and lab personnel.
- Recommend and administer appropriate tests for children who enter the program between testing times.
- Recommend and administer tests to diagnose a particular disability in a particular academic area.
- Recommend and administer appropriate tests to diagnose a particular social pattern.
- Responsible for knowledge of all regulations and CSE procedures as mandated by New York State.
- Responsible for proper scheduling and notification of CSE meetings for all students.
- Notify school secretary to inform parents of CSE meetings; maintain CSE records and provide proper reporting to necessary state/school agencies.
- Ensure that all material presented for CSE meetings is updated and timely, meeting all state and local regulations.
- Notify the appropriate departments of CSE recommendations for therapy and special services.
- When necessary, administer psychological tests to assigned clients in a timely manner.
- After an initial assessment of program needs, begin working with individual teachers on matters of concern.
- Present relevant workshops or lectures to education staff upon request.
- Relate programmatic problems or concerns to the center director.
- NYS Certified School Psychologist.
- Experience with the population preferred.
