Certified Substitute Administrators Poughkeepsie City School District

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of certified substitute administrators. Candidates must possess a New York State Administrative Certification; as appropriate SAS, SBL, or SDA Certification.

Duties include monitoring the instructional program; maintaining an effective, safe learning environment for all staff and students; keeping the superintendent or designee informed of the school's problems, if any, to report; enforcing district policies and administrative regulations; maintaining high standards of student conduct and maintaining student discipline; working collaboratively with all staff to strengthen the instructional program; conferring with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school;

assuming responsibility for the safety of students and staff; supervising fire drills and an emergency preparedness program; walking about the school building and property to monitor safety and security; establishing effective communication and maintaining positive relationships with district administrative offices, students, staff, parents, and community.

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials, and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate. Salary is a daily rate between $400-$500/day. Final date to apply is continuous recruitment.
