Substation Physical Engineer

We are looking for a Substation Physical Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join the Building Engineering Division at LaBella.

The Building Engineering Division provides complete building engineering services including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering. Services range from feasibility studies and analysis through project design and construction.

• Design substation components, including control building (relay panels, facilities, cable raceways, trays, etc.)
• Busbar and strain bus
• Equipment & support structures
• Assembly drawings
• Cables and connectors
• Lightning protection and lighting
• Grounding grid
• Conduit and trenches – perform calculations such as grounding, lightning, and cable ampacity
• Assist project manager in developing scope of work and conceptual design for projects
• Communicate and coordinate project activities with project manager, client, and others as needed

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Civil (preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in Substation Physical design
• PE license or willingness to pursue
• Knowledge of IEEE, NERC, NEC, NESC, NEMA, ANSI standards used in substation design
• Periodic travel and ability to visit project sites
