Financial Development Counselor
Heritage Financial Credit Union is seeking a Financial Development Counselor to build relationships with community members and provide financial education.
Position PurposeThe Financial Development Counselor is responsible for cultivating trusted relationships with the community, delivering high‑impact service through financial conversations, active listening, and advocacy. The role provides personalized banking services, conducts counseling sessions and workshops, participates in outreach, and supports daily branch operations.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Act as an ambassador, promoting credit union vision and financial well‑being.
- Perform daily branch operations and ensure accurate transaction processing.
- Facilitate financial education workshops and community outreach initiatives.
- Maintain accurate financial education software and core system data.
- Recommend workflow improvements and support process quality.
- Assist members with financial questions via in‑person, virtual, phone or Zoom.
- Track performance indicators (walk‑ins, workshops, referrals).
- Participate in ongoing training and meet certification requirements.
- Collaborate effectively as a team member and resolve member issues timely.
- Assist the FDC Manager with ATM/cash vault maintenance, training, and opening/closing procedures.
- Represent Heritage Financial Credit Union at events as required.
- Maintain in‑depth knowledge of credit union products and services.
- Comply with federal and state regulations, credit union policies, and BSA requirements.
$23.00–$29.00 per hour (based on experience). Salary description: $22.55–$28.19 per hour.

Education / Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent. Notary designation or ability to attain within 6 months.
- Financial education certification or ability to attain within 6 months.
Knowledge / Experience
- Two years of customer service, finance, or social services experience.
- Knowledge of operational structure and products of banks/credit unions is a plus.
- Understanding of BSA requirements and compliance.
Skills / Abilities
- Effective communication of mission and program objectives.
- Professional appearance, positive attitude, and active listening.
- Strong written and verbal communication; fluency in Spanish and English highly preferred.
- Ability to manage daily tasks, multitask, and prioritize assignments.
- Detail-oriented with deadline focus.
- Technical competence with banking systems and digital tools.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays.
- Reliable transportation for workplace and community events.
