Our Vassar Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant preferably with Perinatology and vitals experience. This full‑time position (M–F 8–4:30 PM) requires at least one year as an MA or graduation from an accredited MA program. The role offers competitive pay, a $2,000 sign‑on bonus and benefits, and training in Trans Magnetic Stimulation with initial certification and annual recertification.
Responsibilities- Greets and brings patients from the waiting room to the clinical area; obtains vital signs as required.
- Registers, updates patient information and bills physician charges to patients’ accounts; verifies demographic and insurance information.
- Provides clerical and secretarial work associated with patient care, including copying, dictation, and chart preparation, filing, and organization.
- Schedules appointments for patients, testing, or other physicians as ordered.
- Ensures the examination area is clean and stocked.
- Prepares patients for scheduled visits to maintain timely patient flow.
- Conducts in‑office testing directed by the physician; coordinates testing and outside ancillary services as applicable.
- Collects, prepares, and processes specimens as directed by the physician.
- Maintains inventory and ensures proper upkeep, cleaning, and testing of medical equipment and supplies; fills out appropriate logs.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintain annual BLS certification.
- One year medical‑assistant/secretary experience or graduate of an accredited MA program.
- Basic medical knowledge and terminology; skill in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
- Ability to schedule patients and knowledge of telephone switchboard.
- CPR, CNA, MA or EMT certification preferred.
- Graduate of Medical Assistant training program (desired).
- Manual: some manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity.
- Occupational: little or no potential for occupational risk.
- Physical effort: sedentary/light effort; may exert up to 10 lb. force.
- Physical environment: generally pleasant working conditions.
Salary Range: $18.83 – $34.50 per hour
