Location: Poughkeepsie, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Important Travel Requirement- This position is based in Poughkeepsie, NY, but candidates must be able to travel to the Newburgh and Kingston offices as needed throughout the week.
Job Overview:We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Medical Receptionist to support a busy healthcare practice serving multiple Hudson Valley locations. This role is responsible for creating a positive patient experience while ensuring the efficient operation of front desk, scheduling, and administrative functions.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing patient interaction with administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced medical environment.
Medical Receptionist Responsibilities:- Welcome patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer incoming calls and assist with appointment scheduling
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and medical records
- Update and maintain electronic health records (EHR)
- Collect co-pays and process patient payments accurately
- Prepare, organize, and maintain patient charts and documentation
- Coordinate with providers and clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow
- Manage incoming and outgoing communications, including email and fax correspondence
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area
- Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality
- Previous experience in a medical office, healthcare administration, or medical reception role preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Experience scheduling appointments and managing multiple priorities
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EHR) systems preferred
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
- Strong organizational and data-entry skills
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel between office locations as needed
