We are seeking a Clinical Lab Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations of a high-volume clinical laboratory in Poughkeepsie, NY. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for staff supervision, laboratory quality and compliance, LIS oversight, and operational management while spending approximately 50% of the time performing bench testing in Chemistry, Hematology, and PCR.
Responsibilities- Supervise clinical laboratory staff, including scheduling, PTO approvals, timecards, evaluations, training, and competencies.
- Perform bench testing in Chemistry, Hematology, and PCR.
- Oversee daily laboratory operations, LIS functionality, EMR interfaces, and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with NYSDOH, CLIA, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain laboratory records, policies, SOPs, and procedure manuals.
- Lead validation studies, new test implementation, and equipment acquisitions.
- Review QC, calibrations, lot-to-lot studies, linearity studies, and instrument correlations.
- Manage proficiency testing programs and corrective actions.
- Monitor laboratory statistics, quality metrics, and specimen audits.
- Ensure staff continuing education and competency requirements are met.
- Coordinate equipment service contracts, maintenance schedules, and repairs.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Active NYS Medical Technologist license required.
- Minimum 6 years of Medical Technologist experience.
- Prior leadership experience in a NYS-certified laboratory preferred.
- Experience with laboratory operations, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Histology and microbiology experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
