Residential Direct Support Professionals Abilities First Recovery Services

Provide direct care, skill-building assistance, and daily supervision for individuals with developmental disabilities within a residential setting. Operating as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Residential Coach supports residents in achieving personalized service plan goals, maintaining health and safety, building independent living skills, and participating in neighborhood and community activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct Support & Skill Development: Guide residents in activities of daily living (ADLs), personal hygiene, menu planning, meal preparation, grocery shopping, money management, and social engagement.
• Medical & Health Support: Assist with resident medical needs; administer medications once certified; monitor wellness and follow up on healthcare directives.
• Documentation & Facility Operations: Maintain accurate habilitation notes, daily logs, and attendance records; perform routine housekeeping, cleaning, and meal prep to ensure a safe living space.
• On-Call Availability: Provide sleepover or pager coverage as needed (full-time positions only).

Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Licensing: Active New York State driver’s license deemed acceptable by agency insurance carrier.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred (willing to train qualified entry-level candidates).
• Communication & Training: Strong English verbal and written communication skills for regulatory charting; willingness to complete CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certifications.
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, perform transfers (using Hoyer lifts or gait belts), push/maneuver wheelchairs, and execute physical techniques (CPR/behavioral interventions).
