* Summary:

* Assumes responsibility, under supervision of Operating Room Leadership/Anesthesiologist and Registered Nurse, for the set-up and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and monitors supplies.

Assists anesthesiologist in delivery of anesthetic care for a specific group of neonates, pediatric, adolescent,adult,or geriatric patients in accordance with Surgical Services and Anesthesia Department’s established policies and procedures.

• Assumes responsibility to ensure proper functioning of all equipment by using appropriate quality control procedures on a routine basis.
• Works collaboratively as a team member when providing patient care to promote positive patient outcomes and tomaintaincontinuity of patient care through clear communication and professional working relationships including pertinent oral and/or written report to oncoming relief/ancillary personnel.
• Assistsin placement of invasive monitoring lines, initiation of regionalanesthesiaand other anesthetic procedures as assigned.
• Sets up all pressure transducers and ensures proper calibration of transducers and monitors.
• Follows established policies for all safety and infection control practices andmonitorsthe environment and equipment to ensure cleaning standards are maintained.
• Remains available and accessible when on duty oron-call
• Demonstrates knowledge of current trends and practices in healthcare field as evidence by attending in services for equipment,supplies and procedures.
• Utilizes material,equipment,and time in a safe,therapeutic and cost-effective manner.
• Responds to all supervisors’ requests for information andassistsina timelyand courteous manner.

Requires high school diploma or equivalent.

1 year experience as an Anesthesia Technician or 2 years’ experience as an Operating Room Patient Care Technician or equivalent experience

Basic Life Saving (AHA or ARC)

Preferred:
Anesthesia Technician certification from a National or State recognized professional organization which requires an accrediting exam.

Preferred:
Certified Nursing Assistant and/or EKG Certification
