Location: Poughkeepsie, NY
Pay Rate: $19–$21 per hour, based on experience
Employment Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm
Schedule: Overnight Shift | 8:30 PM – 4:30 AM
Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Sanitation Technician to support overnight cleaning and sanitation operations at a manufacturing facility in Poughkeepsie, NY. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a clean, safe, and production-ready plant environment by performing routine and deep cleaning of equipment and work areas. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity for reliable candidates with prior manufacturing or industrial sanitation experience.
SanitationTechnician Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize manufacturing equipment and production areas to meet plant safety and sanitation standards
- Perform basic equipment disassembly and reassembly for cleaning when trained and authorized
- Remove residue, debris, oils, and buildup using approved tools, chemicals, and procedures
- Complete deep‑clean tasks on scheduled rotations, including hard‑to‑reach areas
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, drains, and common plant areas
- Safely prepare, measure, and use industrial cleaning chemicals while following SDS and PPE requirements
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and machine safety protocols during sanitation activities
- Accurately complete sanitation logs and required documentation
- Identify and report damaged equipment, safety hazards, or sanitation concerns
- Coordinate sanitation tasks with production and maintenance teams to support next‑shift start‑up
- Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality on the overnight shift
- Prior experience in manufacturing, industrial, or plant sanitation, preferably cleaning production equipment or machinery
- Comfortable working with industrial cleaners and chemical solutions, following Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and PPE requirements
- Ability to safely perform basic equipment tear‑down and reassembly for cleaning (training provided as applicable)
- Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and machine safety procedures is a plus
- Ability to work independently on an overnight shift and follow detailed written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to cleanliness, safety, and quality standards
- Reliable attendance and punctuality; sanitation is time‑sensitive and impacts production schedules
- Physically able to stand and walk for long periods, bend, reach, kneel, climb ladders/steps, and lift or move supplies (up to
-50 lbs. as needed) - Experience in food, beverage, chemical, plastics, or high‑volume manufacturing environments is strongly preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and experience using industrial cleaning equipment (floor scrubbers, pressure washers, foamers) is a plus
