Grant Development Manager

Vice President of Operations

General Description:

The Grant Development Manager is a key position with the Grants Team which is responsible for securing and sustaining at least $14 M in grant revenue as projected in HRH’s annual operating budget. The Grant Development Manager leads the full cycle of grant development including researching and assessing grant opportunities, collaborating cross-departmentally to identify funding opportunities that fit HRH priorities, writing and preparing grant proposals, and assisting with initial grant implementation activities.

The Grant Development Manager collaborates extensively with other HRH departments, but primarily the Resident Services team, and works closely with the Grant Compliance Manager to monitor grant outcome performance, and maintain productive relationships with grantors.

Principal Duties
  • Regularly reviewing grant notices and researching new opportunities for funding to carry out HRH’s mission and strategic priorities and address funding gaps or emerging needs.
  • Maintaining in depth familiarity with all of HRH’s programs, the funding streams that support them, and how new funding opportunities can best be integrated to enhance or expand HRH’s impact.
  • Creating a priority needs list to guide grant searches and proposal planning based on input from the Director’s Team and key staff across departments.
  • Coordinating with Grant Compliance Manager to prepare, collect and compile boilerplate information and supporting documents typically required for grant applications such as Memoranda of Understanding (MOU’s), letters of support, key staff biographies, HRH’s budget, Org Chart, Board list, non-profit corporate papers, housing research and data.
  • Presenting concise overviews of grant opportunities to HRH’s Grants Team, facilitating discussion and formulating plans for completion of grant applications that will be pursued.
  • Participating in bidding sessions, grant informational meetings, webinars, and public hearings pertaining to grants.
  • Leading the preparation of new and ongoing grant applications in accordance with RFP directions, and completing tasks such as preparing attachments and exhibits, citing research, drafting narrative, and coordinating with other departments for relevant information as needed, etc.
  • Working with the Finance Dept. to prepare and analyze program budgets for new grant applications.
  • Establishing and monitoring a schedule of recurring and renewing grant opportunities.
  • Assisting in orienting Program staff and other involved HRH staff regarding the purpose and requirements of new grants and contracts; supporting timely and effective implementation of newly funded program services.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with grant funders through timely response to their requests, presentations/reports, attending required training and participating meetings, as needed.
  • Working closely with the Grants Compliance Manager to ensure all grant related deadlines are entered into the tracking system (Instrumental) and copies of all grant materials are stored in the networks.
Qualifications

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of grant writing experience that includes serving as the lead in successfully acquiring grants over $100,000. Ability to provide writing samples of previously written grant proposals.

Education:

BA/BS required or equivalent combination of education, training and experience in a relevant field.

Other:
Familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications. Must have strong organizational skills and ability to accurately pace and prioritize the work to successfully meet tight deadlines. The ability to navigate online grant application systems such as Fluxx, SFS, Esnap, and more. Must exercise strong ethical judgement and exhibit a commitment to compliance with regulations, requirements and standards.

Working Conditions

Office-based with ability to work remotely on occasion. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet deadlines.

Salary

$70,000 - $80,000 with comprehensive benefits package.

Location

Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Job is in-person, based at 313 Mill Street.
