Position: Registered Nurse- Emergency Department, FT, Night/Day

Summary

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care guided by the ANA scope of practice. The RN collaborates with patients, families, peers, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver health care services. The RN assesses patient needs, plans and implements care, evaluates outcomes, and demonstrates leadership and commitment to professional growth.

Responsibilities

Completes patient assessment and reassessment as clinically indicated.

Documents patient information, plans of care, interventions, and outcomes. Ensures appropriate documentation for discharge/transfer and other required records.

Follows the five Rights of Medication Administration, verbalizes medication information to patients and families, assesses patient prior to medication administration, and documents response.

Coordinates and supervises nursing care, delegating tasks and maintaining accountability for delegated care.

Promotes a culture of safety: assesses patients for safety risks, adheres to safety policies, initiates interventions, conducts bedside shift reports and rounds, and documents nursing processes responsibly.

Assesses learning needs of patients, families, and significant others, provides instruction, and documents responses.

Provides care for specific patient populations as required.

Delivers patient-centered care, embracing cultural diversity, respecting dignity, and maintaining open communication.

Meets accreditation, regulatory, and compliance responsibilities.

Promotes a culture of learning and growth: seeks learning experiences, mentors others.

Performs other duties assigned within the state nursing scope of practice.

Job Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
Experience: At least one year of Emergency Room RN experience.
License: Current New York State RN license; BLS and ACLS required.
Credentials: RN, BLS, ACLS.

Working Conditions

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.

Very heavy effort; may exert up to 50 lbs. of force.

Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $48.49 - $73.58.
