SummaryThe Registered Nurse provides direct patient care guided by the ANA scope of practice. The RN collaborates with patients, family or significant others, peers, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary health‑care team in the delivery of services to patients. The RN assesses the patient’s needs, plans care, implements, and evaluates medical and nursing regimens in accordance with hospital and nursing policies, procedures, and standards.
The RN demonstrates leadership and a commitment to professional accountability, growth, and patient safety.
- Complete patient assessment and reassessment as clinically indicated.
- Document detailed information, including the plan of care, interventions, and outcomes, reflecting the patient’s physical, mental, and emotional status.
- Ensure appropriate documentation for the level of care provided, including transfer and discharge documentation.
- Follow the five rights of medication administration and document responses.
- Coordinate and supervise nursing care, delegating tasks and maintaining accountability for delegated care.
- Promote a culture of safety by assessing patients for risks, adhering to policies, initiating interventions, conducting bedside shift reports and rounds, and documenting the application of the nursing process.
- Assess learning needs of patients and families, plan and provide instruction, and document responses.
- Provide patient‑centered care, embracing cultural diversity, respecting dignity, and maintaining open communication.
- Meet accreditation, regulatory, and compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Promote a culture of learning and growth by seeking learning experiences and mentoring others.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the state nursing scope of practice.
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
Experience: At least one year of Emergency Room RN experience.
License: Current license issued by New York State to practice as a registered nurse. BLS and ACLS required.
Credentials: RN, BLS, ACLS.
