The Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 (RNS1) will be based at the Noxon Day Program in Dutchess County, where the supervisor will oversee twelve residential homes and one day program. The RNS1 will manage a team of six Registered Nurses (RNs) and four Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), responsible for the care of up to 78 individuals in the residential homes and 85 individuals in the Day program across multiple locations.
The RNS1 will develop corrective action plans for identified regulatory issues, oversee their implementation, and participate in the management and administration of nursing services. The supervisor will assist with planning and program development, and collaborate with management to review and enhance nursing policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Provides clinical oversight, audits nursing care, and provides guidance and training to staff and nurses.
- Provides orientation and mentoring for new RNs and LPNs and assigns staff based on acuity level changes.
- Serves as a member of committees such as Health Service Bulletins, Medication Certification Task Force, Incident Review, Health and Safety, and Nursing Policy and Procedure.
- Is involved with indirect and direct supervision of the RNs, LPNs, and direct care staff.
- Completes investigations as assigned.
- Ensures that the documentary evidence of an individual's health is complete and accurate.
- May help manage the nursing department, monitor expenditures, participate in committees and work groups, and perform duties of a lower-level Registered Nurse as needed.

- Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State and two years of service in any Grade 18 or higher position that requires a registered professional nurse license; or one year of service in any Grade 20 or higher position that requires a registered professional nurse license.

Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and three years of post‑licensure clinical nursing experience. - Substitution: a bachelor’s degree in nursing can substitute for one year of post‑licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master’s degree in nursing can substitute for two years of post‑licensure clinical nursing experience.
- Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; or be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.
- Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 22 ($82,326), increased hiring salary ($10,852), geographic pay differential ($35,000), and Mid‑Hudson adjustment ($2,000). Geographic pay differential and Mid‑Hudson adjustment are added to the job rate ($104,230).
- If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee.
