Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: City of Poughkeepsie

A day in the life

You start your shift by checking open work orders in the EFCO work order ticketing system and walking the floor to spot anything unusual. A line call comes in—packaging just tripped. You quickly diagnose the fault, explain the plan and estimated downtime to Production and Maintenance Leadership, and get to work. Whether it’s a failed sensor, a gearbox leak, or a steam trap issue, you tackle it safely, return the system to service, and verify the line is clear of tools before restart.

Between calls, you execute preventive maintenance, lube rounds, and inspections to keep our food manufacturing operation running safely and efficiently.

What you’ll tackle
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production, facility, and utility assets to keep throughput high and operations safe.
  • Respond rapidly to line calls; diagnose issues and communicate repair status and expected downtime to Production and Maintenance Leadership.
  • Execute preventive maintenance, lubrication, and inspection tasks per the Preventive Maintenance Program to reduce unplanned stops.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic control issues on production and facility equipment.
  • Safely dismantle, adjust, repair, and reassemble machinery and equipment.
  • Verify replacement parts meet OEM specifications and manufacturer tolerances before installation.
  • Support facility/utility systems including HVAC, boilers, steam lines, plumbing, electrical distribution, and building infrastructure.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance, repair, and installation work to minimize production disruption.
  • Follow all safety, quality, GMP, and regulatory practices; keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean.
  • Confirm production lines are free of tools and materials prior to startup or restart.
  • Accurately complete work orders, logs, and documentation in the EFCO work order ticketing system.
  • Record materials and parts used and communicate replenishment needs to Maintenance Leadership.
  • Participate in training; assist Maintenance and Production teams as business demands shift.
  • Immediately report unusual conditions, safety concerns, or actual/potential facility damage.
What you bring
  • Hands-on knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic control systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proven ability to safely diagnose and repair conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and packaging machinery.
  • Working understanding of industrial electrical systems from low-voltage devices (sensors, photo eyes, relays) to high-voltage equipment (motors, panels, disconnects).
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and lubrication practices.
  • Foundational knowledge of HVAC, boilers, steam lines, and other plant utilities.
  • Competence in safely disassembling, inspecting, adjusting, and reassembling equipment.
  • Basic welding, fabrication, and hand-tool proficiency.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, safety guidance, and standard operating procedures.
  • Clear, professional communication with Maintenance and Production teammates.
  • Self-direction with minimal supervision while following defined escalation paths.
  • Safe operation of tools, test instruments, diagnostic gear, and forklifts (with training/certification).
Physical and work environment
  • Stand or walk for extended periods; work in cold or freezer areas when needed.
  • Bend, crouch, kneel, reach, and stoop; frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Strength, stamina, and dexterity to perform essential job functions safely.

  • PLC troubleshooting skills
  • Industrial and manufacturing engineering fundamentals
  • CNC machine repair and troubleshooting
  • Boiler troubleshooting
