Job Overview

IBM is seeking a highly motivated software developer to join the dynamic and innovative IBM AI on Z team. The team expands support of AI efforts on the Z platform, developing solutions for the IBM Telum series of on‑chip hardware accelerators and the Spyre AI accelerator across deep learning, scientific computation, and financial transactions. The AI solutions will be deployed on complex enterprise customer systems.

• Develop enterprise level applications using AI frameworks such as PyTorch and Tensor Flow.
• Work with IBM’s research team to develop next‑generation solutions for IBM’s Telum series of on‑chip hardware accelerators and the Spyre AI accelerator.
• Collaborate closely with teams developing other components of the AI solution to ensure robustness, high‑quality code generation, and suitability for compiled models as shared libraries used in deep learning and safety‑critical environments on the IBM Z platform.
• Provide engineering support for the AI on Z solution and deliver targeted changes for production customer releases.
• Establish strong customer/partner relationships and trust through excellent execution and high‑quality software development.
• Work with the open‑source community to drive and deliver code contributions to lead IBM efforts in AI development.

• Required:
  
  High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor’s Degree.

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science/Data Analytics, or related fields (or equivalent experience).
• Basic knowledge of operating systems, container technologies, internet services, and/or managed services.
• Experience with industry standard C++ compilers and development frameworks.
• Experience with machine‑code generation or compiler back‑end users.
• Strong software engineering discipline, proficiency in data structures, algorithms, and the software development cycle.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Capability to achieve objectives under tight deadlines.
• Experience executing tasks while managing competing priorities.
• Experience working on and contributing to an active toolchain codebase.
• Experience with CI/CD, Jenkins, Linux a plus.

• MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science/Data Analytics, or related field.
• Familiarity with developing user‑targeted Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Knowledge of front‑end compiler technology.
• Experience with accelerator frameworks such as CUDA for Nvidia.
