Job Summary:
The Warehouse Receiver supports University warehouse operations by maintaining accurate inventory, ensuring quality control for all shipments and performing daily warehouse functions. Responsibilities include receiving and verifying deliveries, organizing, and storing materials, preparing orders for campus distribution, and monitoring stock levels. Works collaboratively with service staff and maintains effective relationships across the University.
Essential Functions- Receiving & Inspection — Unload, inspect, verify shipments against purchase orders; identify shortages or damages.
- Inventory Control — Maintain accurate counts using barcode scanners, spreadsheets, or warehouse management software.
- Storage & Put Away — Organize, label, and store materials to maximize space and accessibility.
- Documentation — Process receiving reports, invoices, and shipping documents; maintain records for audits.
- Stock Replenishment — Monitor inventory levels, identify shortages, and prepare replenishment requests.
- Safety & Compliance — Follow all safety regulations and maintain a clean, hazard free work environment.
- Returns Management — Coordinate return to vendor processes for damaged or incorrect goods.
- Freight Management — Receive high volume LTL and FTL freight deliveries.
- Campus Delivery — Operate box trucks with lift gates to distribute goods to academic and administrative departments.
- Fragile/Perishable Handling — Prioritize immediate delivery of sensitive lab materials or perishable research goods.
- Surplus & Disposal — Assist with surplus evaluation, recycling, hazardous material disposal, and inter departmental transfers of usable goods.
- Other duties as assigned

- Minimum of 1-year verifiable experience in warehouse receiving or inventory control operations.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety, inventory procedures, and hand/power tools.
- Proficiency with barcode scanners, WMS, work order systems, and Microsoft 365.
- Demonstrated ability to perform required tasks independently.
- Valid NYS driver’s license with acceptable record.
- Availability for overtime during heavy workloads or emergencies.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and carry 75 lbs
. - Ability to perform repeated bending, squatting, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
- Ability to work from an aerial lift.
- High attention to detail, strong math skills, and ability to multitask.
- Experience implementing warehouse inventory control or warehouse management systems.
- NYS CDL B license.
