Instructional Aide
Chance Light Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education seeks an Instructional Aide to join its award‑winning Special Education team. The position supports students in Grades K‑12 by providing individualized instruction, behavioral interventions, and thorough documentation aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Starting Rate: $22 - $28 per hour based on experience.
Location:
Special Education Program, Grades K‑12.
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to cultivate a supportive, welcoming, and high‑achieving learning environment.
- Implement engaging, individualized instruction and behavioral interventions both on‑site and in community settings, aligned with each student’s unique goals.
- Monitor students during classroom lessons, ensuring instructional fidelity and applying targeted strategies to enhance comprehension and course completion.
- Track progress, communicate with teachers about successes and areas needing additional intervention, and maintain accurate records.
- Manage student behavior effectively, reinforcing school philosophy and policies, and applying consistent disciplinary measures in collaboration with teachers.
- Support and mentor students facing academic challenges, encouraging personal growth and developing essential life, vocational, and social skills.
- Complete clear, accurate, and timely documentation of student behaviors and performance, reporting observations and offering actionable recommendations.
- Assist in preparing detailed behavioral reports, daily activity logs, and other necessary documentation.
- Communicate proactively with students, colleagues, supervisors, and families regarding student needs and achievements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all student records and information.
- Participate actively in assurance and accreditation activities and contribute to achieving site performance standards.
- Participate in school‑wide, student‑parent, and advisory meetings to foster collaborative support networks.
- Respond constructively to formal and informal feedback, demonstrating continuous professional growth.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support student success and overall effectiveness of the educational community.
- High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or a closely related field preferred.
- Paraprofessional, para educator, education assistant, or similar credential currently held or in process of obtaining preferred.
- Certification in company‑approved crisis management training.
- Prior experience providing instruction, guidance, and/or support to children, preferably in alternative, special education, or behavioral health program settings.
- Strong skills in working with children with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional behavioral disorders, and related disabilities.
- Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency and make independent decisions.
- Proficiency in motivating students and having critical conversations to advance realistic goals.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
- Advanced oral and written communication, organizational, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Knowledge of instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
