Campus Security Officer
Salary: $47,988 - $64,440 annually
Classification: Classified
Reports to: Campus Security Lieutenant
The Olympic College Campus Safety and Security Department has an opening for a full‑time Campus Security Officer. The purpose of this position is to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors on campus.
Responsibilities- Conduct patrols at designated areas on foot or in a patrol vehicle to enforce institution rules and regulations, local, state and federal statutes, laws and ordinances.
- Inspect buildings, grounds, and surroundings for signs of prowlers, fire, property damage or any other anomalies.
- Monitor areas suspected of criminal or disruptive activity.
- Conduct building walk‑throughs regularly.
- Engage with the campus community.
- Respond to inquiries from the campus community.
- Assist with vehicle lockouts, jump‑starts, and cutting student padlocks upon request.
- Unlock the Poulsbo campus and disarm intrusion alarm.
- Patrol the campus for signs of suspicious or criminal behavior.
- Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, distress signals, intrusion alarms, and law enforcement situations on campus.
- Document incidents and prepare accident or injury reports.
- Report any crimes under the Clery Act.
- Enforce Olympic College policies.
- Operate departmental communication and technical equipment to ensure proper communication and response times.
- Use a two‑way portable radio for communication.
- Answer departmental phone and duty cell phone for service requests.
- Respond to emergency alerts from the phone system.
- Use a tablet for issuing electronic citations and managing cameras/key card access.
- Use a desktop computer for email, Microsoft Teams communication, monitoring cameras, and controlling key card access.
- Assist city police officers, county deputy sheriffs or Washington State patrol troopers in cases of emergency.
- Provide information to local law enforcement upon request.
- Assist law enforcement with obtaining video footage of a crime on campus.
- Participate in departmental training and meetings.
- Assist with College Commencement events.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license.
- Certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
- Exhibit honesty, integrity, strong interpersonal skills, and effective communication with a diverse campus community.
- Able to learn and enforce rules, follow written and verbal instructions, make sound judgements and decisions, remain objective and fair, and stay vigilant at all times.
This is a full‑time classified position scheduled to work 40 hours a week, with a salary range of $47,988 - $64,440 annually. All classified positions start at Step A. On completion of six months probation a 5 % pay increase is awarded. A collective bargaining agreement exists; the position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Association (WPEA) Union.

Conditions of Employment- Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform the position. Candidates will also be required to complete the Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form as required WB HB 2327.
- The employee must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance of the campus to respond to workplace reporting requirements at the time of hiring. Frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
