Job Summary
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Earthwork Takeoff Specialist to support our estimating and pre‑construction teams by preparing accurate earthwork quantity takeoffs. This role is critical in developing reliable cost estimates for civil, commercial, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, a solid understanding of grading and excavation, and experience working with digital plans and takeoff software.
Key Responsibilities- Perform detailed earthwork quantity takeoffs, including cut/fill, excavation, embankment, trenching, and grading
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports to identify scope and quantities
- Develop and maintain takeoff files, models, and supporting documentation
- Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and engineers to clarify scope and assumptions
- Identify potential risks, inconsistencies, and constructability issues in plans
- Update takeoffs as drawings are revised and maintain version control
- Assist in developing unit quantities and production assumptions for cost estimates
- Maintain organized records of takeoff data for future reference and benchmarking
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred)
- 2+ years of experience performing earthwork or civil takeoffs
- Strong understanding of earthwork principles, grading, and site development
- Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings and specifications
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency with earthwork and takeoff software (e.g., AGTEK, Trimble Business Center, Bluebeam, Civil 3D, HCSS, or similar)
- Experience with mass haul diagrams and digital terrain models (DTMs)
- Familiarity with local soil conditions and construction methods
- Strong Excel skills and basic data analysis ability
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Office‑based with extended computer use
- May require occasional site visits
