Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced AutoCAD Drafter to join our ERCES design team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and professional Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement System (ERCES) and Distributed Antenna System (DAS) drawings using AutoCAD.
The ERCES AutoCAD Drafter will work under the direction of ERCES Designers and project managers to prepare shop drawings, permit drawings, design drawings, as-built drawings, and record drawings. This position requires strong AutoCAD skills, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately translate design information, redlines, field markups, and project requirements into complete construction documents while coordinating with estimators, field technicians, and other internal team members.
Prior ERCES experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong AutoCAD skills and relevant construction, low-voltage, electrical, fire alarm, telecommunications, or similar drafting experience will be considered. ERCES-specific training will be provided to candidates who demonstrate strong drafting ability, attention to detail, and the ability to learn technical systems.
QualificationsThe ideal candidate must:
- Be proficient in AutoCAD and capable of efficiently producing detailed construction drawings.
- Have experience preparing shop drawings, permit drawings, design drawings, and as-built drawings.
- Be able to read and interpret construction drawings, including architectural, electrical, mechanical, reflected ceiling plans, and other applicable trade drawings.
- Experience with low-voltage systems, including ERCES, BDA, DAS, fire alarm, telecommunications, or similar systems, is preferred but not required.
- Possess a strong understanding of AutoCAD drafting standards and construction-document production.
- Be proficient with Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, Excel, and related design/document management software.
- Possess good organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Have strong attention to detail and the ability to identify drawing discrepancies, missing information, and coordination conflicts.
- Be able to manage drafting tasks for multiple projects simultaneously based on project priorities, deadlines, complexity, and workload.
The ERCES AutoCAD Drafter will be responsible for:
- Reading and interpreting construction documents, including architectural, electrical, mechanical, reflected ceiling plans, specifications, and other applicable project documents.
- Preparing ERCES shop drawings, permit drawings, design drawings, and as-built drawings in AutoCAD.
- Creating and updating ERCES floor plans showing equipment locations, antenna locations, cable routing, pathways, and other system components based on information provided by the ERCES Designer.
- Preparing and updating ERCES riser diagrams, equipment layouts, installation details, schedules, legends, general notes, and other required drawing information.
- Incorporating ERCES Designer markups, project manager comments, field redlines, RF survey information, plan check comments, and project revisions into drawing sets.
- Coordinating ERCES drawings with architectural, electrical, mechanical, fire alarm, telecommunications, and other trade drawings as directed by the ERCES Designer or project manager.
- Reviewing drawings for drafting errors, discrepancies, missing information, coordination conflicts, constructability concerns, formatting inconsistencies, and graphical clarity, and bringing identified issues to the attention of the ERCES Designer or project manager.
- Maintaining proper AutoCAD layer standards, blocks, XREFs, drawing scales, viewports, sheet layouts, annotation, and plotting standards.
- Setting up new project drawing files using company templates and drafting standards.
- Updating backgrounds and external references when revised architectural drawings are received.
- Preparing drawing revisions and maintaining revision clouds, delta symbols, revision descriptions, and drawing histories as required.
- Assisting with preparation of ERCES submittal packages by organizing drawings, equipment data sheets, product information, and supporting documentation provided by the ERCES Designer.
- Preparing as-built and record drawings based on field markups, installation changes, commissioning information, and other documentation provided by field personnel and project teams.
- Coordinating with ERCES Designers, project managers, estimators, and field personnel to obtain information required to complete drawings.
- Maintaining organized project drawing files, PDF files, backgrounds, XREFs, redlines, revisions, and related project documentation.
