Assistant Biology Project Manager

Bancroft Construction Services (BCS) provides environmental consulting, biological resources management, and regulatory compliance services for infrastructure, utilities, renewable energy, transportation, and other development projects throughout Southern California. Our team supports projects from early planning through construction by delivering high-quality biological services that meet regulatory requirements and client needs.

We are seeking an Assistant Biology Project Manager to support the planning, execution, and delivery of biological resources and environmental consulting projects. This role is ideal for a motivated environmental professional with strong technical skills who is ready to grow into full project ownership and long-term leadership within the firm.

This is a hybrid position that combines office-based work with regular field presence and travel to project sites throughout the Southern California region.

The Assistant Biology Project Manager supports senior project managers in delivering biological resources and environmental compliance projects across various market sectors, such as utility, renewable energy, transportation, community development, and infrastructure. This position contributes to project coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and technical execution while continuing to develop project management and client-management skills.

The Assistant Project Manager is a strong contributor with increasing independence and responsibility, serving as an emerging leader who can help guide junior staff and coordinate field and program activities. This role operates within an entrepreneurial environment and is well-suited for an individual eager to grow into a full Project Manager role.

• Support planning and execution of biological resources, environmental compliance, and construction monitoring projects
• Assist with managing project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables with increasing independence
• Participate in biological fieldwork and construction monitoring to support project execution and quality control
• Support client communication and begin developing client-facing and consulting skills
• Assist senior staff with client management and relationship-building efforts
• Help identify project risks, scope changes, and scheduling challenges; support mitigation strategies
• Provide technical support in biological resources, permitting, and regulatory compliance
• Coordinate field teams, monitoring programs, and technical deliverables
• Support and mentor junior staff through field leadership and technical guidance
• Track project progress, budgets, and documentation
• Assist with proposal development, cost estimates, and scopes of work
• Learn and operate within an EOS-driven, accountability-focused environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field
• 3–7 years of experience in environmental or biological consulting
• Experience supporting utility, renewable energy, transportation, or infrastructure projects
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail
• Solid technical foundation in biological resources and field or program coordination
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a project team
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
• Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Experience supporting utility, renewable energy, or transportation projects
• Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, CWA, CESA, FESA, and related environmental regulations
• Experience supporting project budgets, schedules, and client communications
• Demonstrated interest in developing project management and leadership skills
• Experience working within an entrepreneurial, performance-based management framework

This is a hybrid position involving both office-based work and field activities and may include:

• Travel to project sites throughout Southern California
• Outdoor fieldwork in variable weather conditions and terrain
• Coordination with biological field teams and technical staff
• Occasional extended hours to support project deadlines and field schedules

Candidates must be able to safely perform site visits and field coordination duties.

• Compensation: $88-95K/annually
