In our Fluid Conveyance Mechanical Engineering Department, we have an exciting opportunity in San Diego, CA for a Designer that wants to be part of making history by participating in the development of some of the most novel remotely piloted aircraft of our time.

The role focuses on 3‑D CAD modeling and drafting within the Propulsion Systems group, responsible for design, development, testing and field support of fluid systems such as fuel, oil, cooling, and pneumatic.

• Participate in the design of systems associated with fluid conveyance such as fuel, oil, cooling and pneumatics for remotely piloted aircraft.
• Using guidance from engineers, conceptualize and communicate with CAD model design solutions that meet program requirements.
• Make evaluations and calculations such as tolerance stack up, part-to-part interface compatibility, and producibility.
• Create engineering drawing types including but not limited to test, detail parts, assembly, and installation, suitable for use in fabrication and assembly of aircraft components.
• Create engineering change requests and change notices to facilitate quick and efficient revisions to engineering drawings, including participation in the drawing release process.
• Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
• Will work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
• Other duties as assigned or required.

• Typically requires an Associates degree or a certificate from a recognized organization indicating completion of training in Pro Engineer, CATIA or IDEAS design software plus thirteen or more years of progressive experience utilizing CAD software with at least five of those years spent utilizing Pro Engineer, CATIA, IDEAS or related engineering design software. Additional education may be substituted in lieu of work experience.
• Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to plan and present results of 3‑D CAD modeling and drafting to engineers at design reviews.
• Proficient in algebra, trigonometry and properties of materials.
• Understanding of military standards, specifications, and configuration management.
• Detailed understanding of modeling tools, preferably Creo Parametric and Unigraphics NX.
• Familiarity with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and tolerance stack up methodology.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
• Able to work off-hours as required.

Job Type: Full-Time Hourly
Salary range: $87,070 - $132,963
