Orthopaedic Tech
Under general supervision, an Orthopedic Technician performs routine clerical and clinical tasks within the clinic, consistently and frequently performing patient immobilization procedures (i.e. casting, splinting, cast removal, etc.) and assisting physicians and other licensed providers to deliver quality patient care efficiently and cost‑effectively.
The technician responds to emergencies as required and participates as a member of the clinical interdisciplinary team to ensure appropriate resources for all internal and external customers. It also provides orthopedic care under supervision for assigned patients in inpatient units and in the office according to established standards and practices, managing multiple tasks and prioritizing patient needs safely and effectively.
Key responsibilities include thoroughly and accurately collecting chief complaints and pertinent information, communicating findings to the appropriate healthcare provider, executing physician/NP orders, observing patients for response to care, reporting changes in patient condition, applying and performing minor adjustments or repairs on durable medical equipment, and maintaining timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
The technician assists as department liaison for new employees and float personnel, providing orientation and instruction on department procedures; prepares lab and X‑ray results for physician/NP review; sets up and restocks exam rooms; participates in patient callbacks; prepares and processes instruments; and correctly files information in the patient’s electronic chart. They also verify benefits, eligibility, and obtain necessary authorizations for durable medical equipment.
Required skills:
ability to speak and read English at a level sufficient to perform job functions; knowledge of standard office equipment (calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer software (MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Internet, e‑mail); proficient Windows computer skills including keyboarding, mouse use, drop‑down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying, and related operations.

Job Requirements- Minimum Education: High School Diploma and/or combination of education and experience;
Specialized vocational training. - Preferred Education: Related certification.
- Minimum Experience: 0–6 months.
- Preferred Experience: 2+ years experience in a related position.
- Required Certification: American Heart Association recognized BLS – Healthcare Provider;
Certified Orthopedic Technician within 6 months of hire. - Preferred Certification: Not Applicable.
