Job Overview
Phlebotomist I – Poway, CA
Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Pay range: $27.00–$29.70 per hour. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education and certifications, as well as market and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.
Position requires a state phlebotomy license. Quest does not accept NHA licenses in CA, WA, or NV.

- Collect specimens according to established procedures (drug screens, biometric screening, insurance exams, etc.).
- Administer oral solutions according to established training.
- Research test/client information and verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems, client contact, and approved tools.
- Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
- Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information; collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
- Process specimens (labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport) as required by test order.
- Perform all non‑patient‑facing duties (inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and using email).
- Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
- Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner (maintenance logs, temperature logs, etc.).
- Complete online and in‑person training courses promptly.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
- One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
The position requires the ability to communicate effectively in English.
