Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Field Support Project Manager supporting our Engineering Field Support (EFS) Department located in Poway, CA (San Diego, California). Under general supervision with limited review, this position reports to the Process and Metrics Supervisor of the EFS Department. The Project Manager will be responsible for estimating, planning, and managing all contracting activities that require EFS efforts/services.

The role will guide EFS teams in proper contract estimation techniques, schedule variance management, KPI tracking and all other EFS contract efforts, in accordance with GA company policies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Managing all EFS contract activities and establishing a network of all contract PMs with EFS efforts.
  • Organizing all EFS charge numbers and acting as the CAM, when required, to issue out WADs to EFS personnel.
  • Providing EFS leadership with current contract statuses and the current burn rate.
  • Working with EFS Managers/Supervisors to understand over/under run causes and work schedule variances with the applicable contracting PM.
  • Coordinating departmental and/or cross‑functional teams to assign and prioritize tasks focused on delivering estimates on EFS efforts.
  • Establishing new contract kick‑off meetings with EFS Managers/Supervisors to inform them of the requested EFS efforts/activities, discuss work and hours needed to accomplish, and collect estimate inputs for Project Manager analysis and entry into the estimating system.
  • Demonstrating strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present, influence and collaborate at the leadership level.
  • Displaying eagerness to investigate and making sound decisions when faced with multi‑faced problems by effectively weighing risks, uncertainties and assumptions.
  • Having knowledge of GA‑ASI organizations, processes, and products preferred, especially EFS operations.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the adoption of best practices and new technologies.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Working in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Business Administration or related discipline and eleven or more years of progressively complex experience in the project administration field, with at least five of those years in project management. Equivalent experience may substitute for education.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of project management processes and procedures, planning and scheduling methods, and budget management, as well as the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones and budgets.
  • Desire for continuous improvement through training and exposure for future growth to a Program Manager role.
  • Experience or exposure to EVMS processes and tools is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to effectively work with multi‑disciplined technical and non‑technical staff.
