Job Description
Teledyne's technology meets the needs of aerospace, defense, factory automation, environmental monitoring, electronics design, oceanographic research, deepwater oil and gas exploration, medical imaging, and pharmaceutical research. Teledyne Marine engineers and manufactures marine sensors, instruments and vehicles that monitor and explore beneath the sea’s surface.
General OverviewUnder general supervision, the employee performs a wide variety of electro‑mechanical subassembly and assembly operations of a semi‑skilled nature. Responsibilities include molding, casting of plastic assemblies, mixing ratios and measuring urethanes and epoxies, soldering, bonding and gluing mechanical assemblies, and assembly of complex units.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Tend machines that press, shape, or mix glues and urethanes; adjust or trim materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics; perform inline inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
- Solder, assemble, disassemble, screw, bolt, glue, test or perform similar operations to join or secure parts in place, including soldering and de‑soldering of ceramic materials.
- Position and align parts in specified relationships to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device.
- Perform intermediate assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color coding parts and assemblies.
- Assembly/disassembly and test of mechanical assemblies using traditional and non‑traditional tooling such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, standard wrenches, hammers, etc.
- Read and follow reporting documentation/information including work release information, engineering change orders (ECO), written instructions, and verbal instructions.
- Read and follow assembly building documentation/information including production drawings (released, unreleased or obsolete), sample assemblies, informal (hand‑drawn or unreleased) assembly drawings.
This position does not supervise other employees.
Qualifications / RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education / Experience- High school education or equivalent and 2–5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mechanical assembly proficiency and ability to read blueprints, Bills of Materials, mechanical drawings, written instructions, and understand verbal instructions.
- Ability to interpret drawings and rework assemblies.
- Basic computer skills (Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word) required.
- Ability to calculate and mix ratios; use soldering irons and basic hand tools; perform simple mathematical calculations, including ratios and fractions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude; understanding of 5S and Lean Manufacturing practices is a plus.

SalaryRange
$39,000.00 – $52,000.00. The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
