Assembler - 1st and 2nd Shift - Poway
As an Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for building various cables used in aircraft and ground control stations. You will determine and follow methods and sequences of operations in performing assembly tasks such as wiring, component installation, hand soldering, and cable harnessing on assembly units. Your work will involve comprehending assembly drawings or written work instructions, crimping terminals/contacts onto wires using manual and automated tooling, labeling assemblies in accordance with drawing specifications, and performing soldering-tinning wire, splices, and connections.
You will perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly, using basic hand tools, cutters, wire strippers, hand crimpers, scissors, soldering iron, and heat gun. You may also monitor and verify quality in accordance with control procedures and are expected to work safely, observing all laws, regulations, and obligations.
Responsibilities
- Build various cables used in aircraft and ground control stations.
- Determine methods and sequences of operations for assembly tasks.
- Perform wiring, component installation, hand soldering, and cable harnessing.
- Follow assembly drawings and written work instructions.
- Crimp terminals/contacts onto wires using manual and automated tooling.
- Label assemblies according to drawing specifications.
- Perform soldering-tinning wire, splices, and connections.
- Complete repetitive and non-repetitive production assembly tasks.
- Use basic hand tools, cutters, wire strippers, hand crimpers, scissors, soldering iron, and heat gun.
- Monitor and verify quality according to control procedures.
- Observe all laws, regulations, and obligations during business conduct.
- Work safely following established procedures.
Essential Skills
- Experience in cable assembly and/or cable harnessing.
- Proficiency in soldering, cable harnessing, assembly, and wire crimping.
- Ability to read, follow, and understand blueprints, schematics, work instructions, and wire lists.
- Experience with crimping terminals/contacts onto wires using tooling.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools, cutters, wire strippers, hand crimpers, scissors, soldering iron, and heat gun.
- Good visual perception and ability to distinguish colors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Certification IPC/WHMA-A620 is a plus.
- Understanding of 5S and Lean Principles is a plus.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Customer-focused and possess a good understanding of job aspects.
- Knowledge of computer operations and applications.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to work extended hours as required.

Work Environment
This role is located within a leading aeronautical systems organization. The work schedule follows a 9/80 pattern, with first shift running from 5 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Thursday, and second shift from 3 PM to 12:30 AM. Overtime opportunities are available, with shifts extending on Fridays and Saturdays. The dress code requires long pants, no loose clothing, clean attire, and close-toed shoes.
Each Cable Assembler will have their own work bench equipped with all necessary tools. The environment is calm and quiet, with strict rules against using headphones and visible phones. Employees will be seated for the majority of their work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poway, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.96 - $27.26/hr.
