CNC Operator
The CNC Operator sets up and runs CNC equipment to process jobs using a variety of materials, including Q2, Cirlex, Graphfoil, and Copperfoil, while consistently meeting quality, safety, and production standards. This role focuses on producing high-quality products safely, efficiently, and on schedule, supporting both internal and external customer requirements. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to identify and resolve quality issues, and the flexibility to support multiple functions through cross-training.
Responsibilities- Set up CNC machines and operate multiple machining centers and equipment to produce parts according to specifications.
- Perform complete machine setups, including tooling selection, fixture loading, and program loading, to prepare equipment for production runs.
- Download and load CNC programs from approved programming software to ensure accurate and efficient machining.
- Make machine adjustments, offsets, and tooling changes as needed to maintain machining quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues to minimize downtime, scrap, and rework.
- Monitor machine performance during operation and support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, and overall operational performance.
- Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, travelers, engineering drawings, and specifications to ensure correct part production.
- Use precision measuring instruments to verify part conformance and maintain accurate quality documentation.
- Submit first article inspections to confirm parts meet engineering specifications and quality standards before full production.
- Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to support production goals, tooling improvements, fixture development, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Provide technical support, training, and mentorship to other machine operators to build team capability and consistency.
- Cross-train and rotate across multiple workstations to support production needs, flexibility, and efficiency.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with supervisors, production leads, and peers to support department goals and resolve issues.
- Follow all safety standards and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment in a clean room environment.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area in accordance with established safety standards and expectations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall production and operational objectives.
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC machines and multiple machining centers in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform complete machine setups, including tooling selection, fixture loading, and CNC program loading.
- Experience downloading programming software or CNC programs from systems such as AutoCAD, NCCam, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in operating and/or setting up CNC laser equipment and manual machining equipment in a production setting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, setup sheets, travelers, and specifications accurately.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges, to verify part conformance.
- Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, including tooling, feeds, speeds, and offsets.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve machining and tooling issues to maintain quality and throughput.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards and accurate documentation.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with Quality, Engineering, Operations, supervisors, and peers.
- Ability to follow established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment in a clean room environment.
